Police in Narok arrest three murder suspects

Police in Narok town have arrested three people in connection with the murder of a 38-year-old man who was killed last week and his body dumped along the Muslim Cemetery Road.

Narok County Police Commander Riko Ngare said the three were being held at Narok Police Station to assist with investigations.

The recent murder had sparked an outcry among the residents of Narok, who complained of increasing insecurity in the town and its surroundings, as hardly a week goes by without a murder being reported in the area.

The recent arrests appear to give residents hope that the police will bring to justice all those involved in criminal activities in the city.

Booster Kisio, a youth leader, called on the police to increase patrols in all parts of the city as the killers had mainly targeted young people.

Elsewhere, police in Sekenani district of Narok West sub-county have launched a manhunt for a man suspected of murdering his girlfriend last night.

According to the police report, the body of the 31-year-old woman was found lying in a nearby bush by a young boy who wanted to relieve himself.

“The boy alerted men working at a construction site and they clearly identified the body as that of a woman they all knew as the friend of one of their colleagues,” Ngare said.

The construction site guard stated that the couple had been seen together on the construction site in the evening.

Chepkirui's body had a deep cut on the neck and was taken to the Narok County Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation pending an autopsy.

In another murder case, police at Mulot police station in Narok county are detaining a man who turned himself in to the station and confessed to killing his wife on suspicion of infidelity.

Police visited the homestead and found the body of 30-year-old Naropil Moijoi with a deep cut on his neck in a bush next to the suspect's house.

Next to the body, the officers found a bloodstained panga, which is suspected to have been used to kill the deceased.

The body was taken to Longisa Morgue in Bomet County for autopsy.
