The Seattle Storm take on the Las Vegas Aces. Our WNBA playoff odds series includes our prediction, odds and picks for the Storm Aces. Find out how to watch the Storm Aces.

The Las Vegas Aces struggled for the first 34.5 minutes of Game 1 of their playoff series against the Seattle Storm. With 5:30 left in the fourth quarter, the Aces led 66-65 and found themselves in a slugfest with a Seattle team that hadn't played well over the past two weeks. Vegas entered the playoffs with 9 of 10 wins. The Aces had regained their championship form after a sluggish first 30 games of the season. These two teams were heading in different directions, so it was easy to assume Vegas would dominate Game 1 and cover the 7.5-point lead. However, midway through the fourth quarter, that wasn't the case. Anyone with a Storm +7.5 ticket had to be optimistic about the final outcome.

Then, when the outcome of the game was uncertain and the chances of the aces covering the spread were extremely slim, everything changed.

The Aces outscored Seattle by 10 points in the final 5:30 minutes and won by 11 points. In the fourth quarter, however, the Aces not only raised their level of play, but Seattle also faltered in a notable way.

The Storm only managed two points in the entire fourth quarter, both from free throws. That's right: Seattle didn't manage a single field goal attempt in the entire quarter.

Las Vegas scored just 14 points in the fourth quarter. The Aces scored just two points in the first 4:30 of the final period before scoring 12 points in the final 5:30. Vegas didn't even play well. They certainly didn't shoot well. Seattle was notably poor, wasting a chance at a road win on a night when the Aces were far from their best.

This sets up a second game where both teams can play much better on offense. It also creates a situation where the Aces – who got through Game 1 – could land a much more convincing knockout blow in Game 2 and end Seattle's season. Can the Storm respond to a bitter loss? They will need to play their best game of the season to win and stay in the race.

Why the storm can cover the spread/profit

Frankly, the Storm should have covered the 7.5-point lead they had in Game 1. They had to suffer an epic collapse to not blow that lead. As long as Seattle can score a normal number of points in the fourth quarter this time, it should be able to cover the lead, which has remained unchanged since Game 1.

Why Aces Can Cover the Spread/Profit

The Aces covered the 7.5-point lead in Game 1 despite playing below par for most of the night. If they play their best, they should cover the lead again, and probably with more ease.

Final Storm Aces Prediction and Pick

The Aces are the better team and they should play better here than they did in Game 1. Take Vegas.

Final Storm Aces prediction and pick: Aces -7.5
