In Star Citizen, you will soon have to take good care of your ships to win battles

The MMO Star Citizen will soon be getting a major update that will fundamentally change your spaceships. If you don't pay attention and take good care of your ships, they will soon become expensive space junk.

Why do you have to take care of your ships? In Star Citizen, Alpha 4.0 brings the Engineering Update. The update deals with the spaceships and brings more depth to space battles and the control of your spaceships, as the developers explain on YouTube. With the update, you get all ship modules that can be damaged and need to be replaced.

In a battle, you, like your opponents, can destroy modules on the ships and thus cause systems to fail. If a system is damaged, it must be repaired. However, this is only possible to a certain extent with the tools on board.

With the new update, your own hangar also becomes more important:

How can the systems be completely repaired? In order to get your systems back in shape, you have to replace your lands and the damaged modules. However, you also have to pay attention to the weight of the module. For some things in Star Citizen, you need a cargo robot, which is more expensive than the game itself.

Once you've replaced your system on the ground, you'll quickly be ready for the next fight. But here, too, you'll have to do more with the new update.

What should I keep in mind? With the new update, you get a new control center for the energy supply of your spaceship. You can freely decide how you want to distribute the energy on board. Especially if you have damaged parts, it is worth redirecting the energy from there to other areas of the ship.

However, if you fight a lot, you shouldn't just put your energy into your weapons. With the new update, these can overheat just like all other parts on board. This can lead to a system failure.

To prevent the spaceship from overheating, you can put more energy into the ventilation in the control center and cool down the ship and especially your weapons. However, you cannot then use this energy for other areas.

How far does the simulation go? With their new update, the developers of Star Citizen are clearly focusing more on simulation and giving their space combat more depth. Also interesting are the fires that can break out on board if the ship is hit in battle.

As a pilot or crew member, you are then forced to put out the fire before it causes more damage. In the video, the developer shows how the fire can spread across the ship. The entire ship can also be damaged if you don't act in time.

While Star Citizen brings interesting new features with the Alpha 4.0 update, the developers could be working on another title at the same time.
