Employee lost her life in fire at Manila restaurant

A restaurant owner was killed in a tragic fire at a restaurant on G. Tuazon Street, Sampaloc, Manila.

A tragic fire killed an employee of a restaurant on G. Tuazon Street, Sampaloc, Manila early this morning.

The fire broke out early Tuesday morning (September 24, 2024) at around 3:30 a.m., prompting the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to raise the first alarm. Eight BFP fire trucks and additional firefighters arrived at the scene.

According to local emergency services, they tried to control the fire with fire extinguishers, but the flames were too strong. Despite using several fire extinguishers, they were unable to put out the fire.

Two male employees who were also staying in the restaurant managed to escape. One of the survivors, Franklin Laurente, reported that they were sleeping on the ground floor when the fire broke out.

He managed to wake up his colleague. If he hadn't been warned, he might have died too. Unfortunately, his colleague, who was sleeping on the mezzanine, did not survive.

The fire broke out on the first floor of the restaurant, but the exact cause is still under investigation. Authorities are looking into how the fatal accident occurred and whether there were other factors that contributed to the tragic outcome.

The restaurant, known for its noodle service, was a residential and commercial building.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control after about 40 minutes. The estimated damage to the building is about P100,000. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing and authorities are working to find out what led to the tragic incident.
