Due to a three-vehicle accident at exit 85, Route 6 was closed in both directions.

A three-vehicle crash closed both lanes of Route 6 near the Brewster-Harwich city line on Monday afternoon. The crash occurred around 3:15 p.m., Massachusetts State Police Officer Brandon Doherty said.

Due to the accident investigation, the two-lane highway was still closed in both directions at 6:30 p.m.

The accident occurred east of Exit 85. At this exit, the highway intersects Route 137. On Road X, state police described the accident scene as the city limits between Harwich and Brewster.

Two drivers suffered serious injuries, one was in critical condition.

There was no information on the possible causes of the crash on Monday evening.

At the time of the crash, a severe thunderstorm warning was in effect for Cape Cod; flooding and lightning strikes were reported in the region.
