Shooting suspect sought after altercation in city centre

Windsor police have arrested one suspect and are searching for another after shots were fired during an altercation downtown.

On September 19, 2024, officers received reports of a shooting that had occurred the previous evening. Through investigation, officers learned that two armed suspects were involved in a verbal altercation with another individual in the area of ​​Glengarry Avenue and Assumption Street.

According to police, the conflict escalated when one of the suspects fired a firearm directly at the victim's vehicle, hitting him in the door.

The victim suffered no injuries in connection with this incident.

On September 22, officers arrested a 33-year-old man at a residence in the 700 block of Assumption Street. The vehicle driven by the suspect was impounded.

He is accused of:

  • Possession of a dangerous weapon
  • Possession of an unlicensed firearm
  • Possession of a restricted/prohibited weapon
  • Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle

The second suspect is described as a black man, approximately 30 years old, 1.80 m tall, with a slim build and a full beard.

Investigators are asking anyone in the area to check their dashboard cameras or surveillance footage for evidence related to this case.
