Man in Tempe convicted of multiple burglaries, thefts and sexual assaults

PHOENIX (AZFamily) – An Arizona man has been sentenced to more than two decades in prison for his role in burglaries, thefts and sexual assaults that occurred in Tempe in late 2023.

The Maricopa County Attorney's Office announced Monday that 25-year-old Djimon Boggs was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Prosecutors say Boggs, who lived nearby, searched a Tempe neighborhood for unlocked homes and threatened the victims and attempted to sexually assault them once they were inside. Police say two victims screamed for help while a third was attacked at gunpoint.

“This man terrorized a community of students and injured numerous women, some of whom will be scarred for life,” Maricopa County District Attorney Rachel Mitchell said at the time of his arraignment.

Last October, Arizona's Family reported that Boggs pleaded not guilty to one count of burglary and sexual assault, as well as two counts of attempted sexual assault.

Last month, however, he pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, one count of sexual assault and two counts of attempted sexual assault.

A judge sentenced Boggs to 12.5 years for burglary and 12.5 years for sexual assault. After his release, Boggs will be on probation for the rest of his life and will be required to register as a sex offender.
