ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WOLO)– The South Carolina Highway Patrol said two people were killed in a five-vehicle crash on I-26 Saturday morning.

The collision occurred around 11:20 a.m. on the westbound side of I-26, Master Trooper Gary Miller said.

According to SCHP, a Honda CRV was traveling east on I-26 near mile marker 156, about six miles north of Bowman, when it ran off the right side of the road and its driver oversteered and lost control.

The vehicle then swerved left of the center through the median and collided head-on with a Chrysler van, Miller continued.

Three other vehicles, a GMC Denali, an Acura sedan and a GMC pickup truck, all traveling west on I-26, were damaged by debris in the collision, he said.

The drivers of the Honda and the Chrysler were killed in the collision.
