Man who died in car and truck accident on A75 near Springholm named

The name of the man killed in a crash between a car and a lorry in Dumfries and Galloway has been released by police.

Ross Wood died as a result of the accident, which occurred on the A75 near Springholm, Castle Douglas, at around 1.15am on 20 September.

A silver Ford Mondeo and a white Scania truck were involved in the incident.

The 32-year-old who was driving the Mondeo was pronounced dead by emergency services at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the Scania truck, a 57-year-old man, was taken to Galloway Royal Infirmary as a “precautionary measure”.

Sergeant Neil Moffat said: “Our thoughts are with Mr Wood’s family and friends at this very difficult time.

“We continue to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact us.

“If you have any dashcam footage that could assist our investigation, please also contact officers.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call Police Scotland on 101quoting incident number 0209 of September 20th.”
