Kamala Harris' old video of herself protesting migrant deportation with disgraced celebrity resurfaces: Watch

Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, has promised to protect the border as the issue of migrant influx dominates the Nov. 5 election. During her tenure as California senator, however, she opposed the deportation of illegal immigrants.

In a resurfaced video making the rounds on social media, Harris can be seen chanting “Down with deportation!” alongside protesters at a parade in Los Angeles in 2018.

Harris was chosen as grand marshal of the 33rd annual parade, which is usually held in honor of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

During the march, the issue of immigration enforcement was raised again, with Harris excitedly chanting, “Up, up with education, down, down with deportations,” as she clapped and grinned with the crowd of protesters.

Who joined Harris during the protest?

Family members who attended the event with Harris included her husband, Doug Emhoff, and his daughter, Ella Emhoff, who attended the event via her iPhone.

Other celebrities who joined her in the march included Jussie Smollet, a former aspiring television star who starred in the fictional series “Empire.”

Notably, Smollet was found guilty of committing a fake hate crime in January 2019 after making up the story that two guys wearing MAGA hats attacked him, doused him with bleach, and put a noose around his neck.

Harris called the attack an “attempted modern-day lynching” in a social media post. The US vice president has not deleted the post, even though Smollet's claim has been completely refuted, Daily Mail reported.

Harris and her stance on immigration

After winning the vice presidency in the White House, Harris implemented her plan to reduce the number of deportations.

Compared to the Trump administration, actions taken by the Biden administration during its time in office resulted in a 67 percent decrease in the deportation of criminal aliens, according to ICE data.

The Trump administration has deported 485,930 illegal aliens whose property has been seized or who face criminal charges, compared to 158,931 under the Biden-Harris administration.

Harris has heightened concerns about Trump's promise to resume deportations of illegal immigrants who commit crimes by threatening “mass deportation camps.”

“You have promised to carry out the largest deportation, a mass deportation in American history,” the US vice president said in a speech at a gathering organized by the nonprofit Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute.

“How is that going to happen? With massive raids? With massive internment camps?” she asked.
