York Region masseuse faces second sexual assault charge

A massage therapist who was previously charged with sexual assault is now facing further charges after a second alleged victim came forward. The York Regional Police confirmed in a press release on Monday.

Investigators from the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit say the suspect, Philip Lau, worked at clinics in Newmarket and Richmond Hill.

In the first case, a client of a clinic in the Yonge Street and Savage Road area of ​​Richmond Hill came forward and claimed that he had been sexually harassed by Lau during a massage, and police subsequently filed charges against him.

After this allegation was reported, police said another person had come forward with a similar allegation.

“On September 11, 2024, according to media reports, a second victim reported that he or she had been sexually assaulted during visits to a clinic in the City of Richmond Hill in August 2024,” a press release said.

Lau, 54, from Georgina, Ontario, is now charged with two counts of sexual assault.
