West Concord man sentenced for chainsaw threat – ABC 6 News

ABC 6 NEWS – A West Concord man was found guilty of assault and sentenced to prison in 2023.

Russell Amiot, 48, was sentenced Friday to one year of probation and 13 days in jail, which he had already served.

The attack occurred on June 7, 2023, when a Dodge County Sheriff's Office deputy approached Amiot after a neighbor called and said he had threatened him.

According to court documents, Amiot was “rude, agitated, swearing and aggressive” toward the deputy. The deputy then spoke with the neighbor, who said Amiot threatened to dismember him with the chainsaw he was using to cut down a tree branch.

Amiot was charged with second-degree assault, terroristic threatening, fifth-degree assault and disturbing the peace. While the case was still in court, a warrant was issued for Amiot's arrest after he failed to appear for a hearing earlier this month.

Amiot was arrested on a warrant on September 17 and pleaded guilty to fifth-degree assault.
Amiot entered an Alford plea, meaning he claimed he did not commit the crime but admitted that the court had enough evidence to convict him.
