14-year-old boy killed in car accident

ELLINGTON TWP., Mich. (WNEM) – A 14-year-old boy from Kawkawlin has died after being involved in an accident over the weekend.

It happened on Saturday, Sept. 21, around 4:20 p.m. near Broadway Road and N. Murray Road in Ellington Township, Michigan State Police said.

A 14-year-old Bay City boy was driving a 2001 Cadillac and crashed into a tree, police said.

The driver suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to a local hospital where his condition is stable.

The passenger, a 14-year-old boy from Kawkawlin, was trapped in the back seat of the vehicle, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
