Mohamed Fayed reportedly used blonde “middleman” to procure young victims

On Sunday, prosecutors admitted they had twice decided not to charge Fayed over the alleged abuse. Prosecutors had been presented with evidence in 2009 and 2015 but had concluded there was “no realistic prospect of conviction”.

The Telegraph had previously reported that Fayed was questioned under suspicion by the Metropolitan Police in 2008 after a 15-year-old girl told investigators that he had sexually abused her in the London department store.

Sir Keir Starmer, who was chief prosecutor in 2009, has come under fire for not prosecuting the late billionaire. Downing Street insists the prime minister did not handle Fayed's case, with a spokesman adding it “did not go across his desk”.

The CPS was headed by Dame Alison Saunders when prosecutors considered bringing charges against Fayed in 2015.

“I was young and naive”

The alleged matchmaker was reportedly a senior executive at Harrods at the time. The student, then 19, claimed to have met the woman in 2013, three years after Fayed sold Harrods. She was allegedly invited for cocktails before being driven to his penthouse in Park Lane.

After being escorted to a private elevator, she was offered fruit and champagne, but she declined, fearing the drink might contain drugs.

She was then cornered by Fayed, who demanded sex in exchange for £2,500 a month in pocket money and a free designer handbag of her choice from Harrods, she claimed.

She told MailOnline: 'In the flat I just had this fear and feeling that something was wrong, but I was young and naive and thought maybe that's how people get jobs.

“When I came back downstairs, I burst into tears, it was just an instinctive reaction. I couldn't believe he had just offered me sex. She [the fixer] started comforting me like a mother. She said, “I'm so sorry you're upset.”

“I had a million questions. I remember wondering why he didn't just get prostitutes, but she told me that he likes smart, young, pretty girls and is obsessed with not catching STDs, so he goes to his GP for weekly check-ups.”

“Call me when you get horny”

The teenager then left the bar, but before she did, the billionaire gave her £300 in £50 notes, wrote his phone number on a piece of paper and said: “Call me when you get horny.”

Outside the apartment, she burst into tears and was consoled by the alleged matchmaker, who implied that she had had sex with Fayed herself and encouraged the teenager to do the same because: “It's not that bad, it won't take that long and afterward he will give you whatever you want.”

The teenager added: “I remember walking around London and constantly looking over my shoulder and worrying about delivery vans. Like one would stop, the door would open and I would be gone.

“He never threatened me, but that was never necessary. I was in awe of his power and wealth.”

A lawyer representing 37 of the late billionaire's accusers said that around 100 enquiries had been made to a team of lawyers since the BBC documentary “Al Fayed: Predator at Harrods” aired on Thursday evening about the allegations.
