First look at the live-action anime series “Heart Attack”

EXCLUSIVE: It is heart attack Time. Here's a first look at Skybound and Robot's live-action anime series for Japanese network Fuji TV. Deadline can provide the first glimpse of the show and reports that Cineflix Rights is handling distribution. The series will debut internationally at MIPCOM, the biggest TV market of the year.

The eight-part drama is based on the successful graphic novel of the same name by Mortal Kombat 2by Shawn Kittelsen and Eric Zawadzki. Set in a post-pandemic Japan, the film is about a part of the population that has supernatural abilities, the so-called variants, and is oppressed because of their powers. When two variants, Ema and Umin, meet, an unexpected bond develops between them and together they fight for their existence and freedom.

The main roles in the series are played by Kanichiro (Kubi) as Umin, Toko Miura (Drive my car) as Ema and Goro Kishtani (Returnees) as Umin's superior, unit chief Liu.

Takeshi Maruyama (Spaghetti Code Love) directs. Robert Kirkman, David Alpert, Rick Jacobs and Glenn Geller are executive producers of Skybound. Koji Ishi and Takeshi Shimokawa are executive producers of Fuji.
