The Spanish-Argentinian influencer Georgina Rodríguez wanted to show with the first season that she is more than just an appendage of soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo (39).

Her show quickly became a hit on Netflix. In the new season, the 30-year-old gives insights into her new life in Saudi Arabia, where her boyfriend has been playing football since last year for a salary of almost 200 million Swiss francs. In her old homeland of Spain, some people are bothered by the way she portrays her new home.

Advertising for a country that ignores human rights

The most-read Spanish-language news platform “El País” criticizes the third season of “I am Georgina”: “It has lost touch with reality.” In Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, the influencer is completely isolated, and society seems to support her employees. In the two previous seasons, meeting friends and family had provided a touch of authenticity. But with the move, they have disappeared from the scene just like the Iberian ham that she snacked on in every third scene in the second season.

Above all, the latest episodes of the series are no longer a reality show, but a single advertising stunt for tourism in Saudi Arabia. The author criticizes the fact that in “I am Georgina” feet are massaged for five minutes and 33 seconds, but not a word is said about the violation of human rights or the discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community in Saudi Arabia. Instead, she has said goodbye to a parallel world of pure luxury and only travels by private jet. “The third season is an ode to nothing, probably the most boring thing in the entire Netflix catalog.”

On the catwalk for Swiss clothing label

The last episode is 19 minutes long and shows Georgina preparing for the fashion show in Paris and practicing the catwalk with a coach. On the catwalk, she wears a red dress by the fashion label Vetements, which has its headquarters in Zurich. It looks like a football jersey and has Cristiano Ronaldo's number on the chest.
