Four teenagers have been arrested after a cyclist suffered serious injuries in an early morning attack in Wakefield.

A man in his 30s was treated in hospital for multiple head and facial injuries following the incident at Westgate at around 5:50 a.m. (CEST) on Sunday, police said.

Four men aged 13, 15, 16 and 18 were later arrested on suspicion of intentional bodily harm.

According to West Yorkshire Police, all four suspects were released on bail.

The victim was believed to have been punched in the face and then attacked with the front wheel of his own bicycle while he was lying on the ground, a police spokesman said.
