ZDF show: Guest makes presenter Zarrella cry: “Don’t do that to me!”

This weekend, the German pop music world once again looked to “The Giovanni Zarrella Show”: However, one guest particularly moved the presenter on Saturday evening (September 21).

What a goosebumps-inducing moment from Giovanni Zarrella on ZDF. After Kerstin Ott, Oli P. and Sarah Engels had already created a great atmosphere and got the audience celebrating and clapping, it suddenly became very quiet and thoughtful.

“The Giovanni Zarrella Show”: “I had goosebumps for three whole minutes”

Crowd favorite Rea Garvey from Ireland brought songs from his new album – and “Halo” created a particularly emotional moment in the studio. You could have heard a pin drop in the crowd that had just been cheering so much.

Rea Garvey had previously caused a stir on the “Giovanni Zarrella Show” because he had violated ZDF guidelines.

“The song is about trying to protect my eldest daughter”

Zarrella was also carried away by Garvey's song, as he explained after the Irishman's performance: “I had goosebumps for the whole three minutes!” The singer also admitted: The song, and especially the content of the song, gets under your skin.

“The song is about trying to protect my eldest daughter from what's out there in the world. And whenever I sing that, it's like I'm a little boy, just me and her,” Garvey explains the song.

“I have an eleven-year-old daughter, you can’t do that to me, please don’t”

A text that every father will understand. “You just want your child to be happy.” And the emotion cannot be hidden,” he added with a lump in his throat.

At these words, Zarrella also had to touch the singer's shoulder and point to his moist eyes. “Don't do that to me!” I have an eleven-year-old daughter, you can't do that to me, please don't.”

“Halo” – that is also the title of the album. “Halo, for me, doesn't mean halo. It's what a person radiates, what makes them who they are,” explains Garvey.

“And as a musician, I feel like it's my job to bring some light into the room and into people's hearts. And to convey hope.” The Irish pop star certainly achieved that on this evening.
