The Malaysian man who died in a car crash in Woodlands in the early hours of September 20 leaves behind a wife and a daughter who was less than a year old.

Zhang Guosheng (transliterated from Chinese), 29, was a factory worker from Ipoh, Malaysia. He worked with his wife in a curtain assembly factory in Sembawang.

On the night of the accident, he decided to ride in his colleague's car because they were both working overtime.

Her car collided with a BMW at the intersection of Woodlands Avenue 10 and Woodlands Avenue 7.

Zhang was reportedly thrown from the car by the force of the impact.

His colleague, a 33-year-old man, was subsequently arrested for negligent driving resulting in death.

Woman sobbed bitterly at funeral

Relatives in the morgue told Shin Min Daily News that Zhang had a calm and cheerful personality.

His cousin said Zhang liked to joke with his friends and was a “generous” person.

He got married over a year ago and had a daughter less than a year ago.

Zhang and his wife travel back and forth between Singapore and Malaysia every day for work while their parents look after their daughter.

Zhang's body will be returned to Ipoh for burial.

His body will then be cremated and Zhang's wife will bring his ashes to Johor, where she comes from.

“She hopes that [Zhang] can continue to be by her side. It will be more convenient for her and her child to visit [him],” said Zhang's cousin.

He added that both families would help care for their child.

Zhang's body was laid to rest on Saturday (September 21).

Zhang's wife was seen crying bitterly.

Driver blames himself for Zhang's death

Zhang's colleague blamed himself for the incident.

Shin Min reported that he rushed to the funeral after his release on bail.

His wife, surnamed Zheng, also attended the funeral and stayed by Zhang's wife's side.

She had also accompanied the wife to the scene of the accident and to the morgue.

Woman was only a few kilometers away when man died

On the day of the accident, Zheng and Zhang's wife decided to have dinner and go shopping together while they waited for their husbands to finish work.

The accident occurred when their husbands were on their way to pick them up at Woodlands subway station.

Accordingly Shin Min, They were only three kilometers away when the accident happened.

When Zhang's wife rushed to the scene, Zhang was already covered with a white cloth and was presumed dead.
