2 people injured in domestic incident in Albany

Two people were hospitalized following a domestic incident in Albany Sunday afternoon in which one person was stabbed.

Police said the incident occurred around 4:20 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Grand Street.

When officers arrived at the scene Sunday afternoon, they found a 37-year-old woman suffering from stab wounds and a minor cut to her hand. A 13-year-old child was also injured at the scene, but not from the stab wounds. Both were taken to Albany Medical Center for further treatment.

Albany police told NewsChannel 13 that this was a domestic incident.

Albany police also said they arrested Paul Smith, 38, of Albany. Smith is charged with assault, illegal possession of a firearm and endangering the welfare of a child.

Smith will be arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court on Monday morning.
