Cleveland Browns fans demand Deshaun Watson be benched over sexual harassment allegations

Cleveland Browns fans are demanding that Deshaun Watson be benched due to allegations of sexual assault against the quarterback.

The Browns were 1-1 heading into their Week 3 game against the struggling New York Giants, but after a disappointing performance in Sunday's 21-15 loss, fans expressed their displeasure with the quarterback and the team.

At halftime, the Browns were booed off the field as they trailed 21-7. Fans also commented on Watson's current form.

“Every week for the last three years, Deshaun Watson has looked like the worst quarterback in the NFL and there are still people who say he’s just a little rusty,” A fan wrote.

“I’m really not sure if there are five starting quarterbacks in the league worse than Deshaun Watson,” another added. “This guy's accuracy is among the worst I've ever seen.”

Watson performed poorly, being sacked eight times in Cleveland's 21-15 loss to the Giants.

“The Browns’ deal with Deshaun Watson is the worst deal in history and I’m sure it will never be surpassed,” said a third.

Brown, whose problems on the field have been linked to his struggles outside the NFL, appeared indecisive during the loss.

Although they were able to close the gap in the second half, Brown completed just 21 of 37 attempts for 196 yards. Although he threw two touchdowns, fans were unhappy that their quarterback was sacked eight times in the game.

Even though it was ultimately his best performance of the season, fans were not satisfied without a win against another struggling team.

Watson completed 22 of 34 attempts for 186 yards in an 18-13 win over the Jaguars in Week 2. He previously completed 24 of 45 passes for 169 yards and a touchdown in a 33-17 loss to the Cowboys.

On September 22, it was reported that Watson was suffering from mental health issues due to allegations of sexual assault that he is dealing with off the field.

Watson has been at the center of several lawsuits over the past three seasons and previously reached confidential settlements with 20 women over sexual misconduct claims that led to his 11-game suspension during the 2022 season.

Earlier this month, it was announced that a woman was suing him for over a million dollars in compensation. She accuses him of sexually harassing her in Texas four years ago.

“He's still dealing with all the crap he had a couple of years ago with the lawsuits and all that,” former quarterback Warren Moon told TMZ. “And now all of a sudden he's got another lawsuit coming his way.”

“It seems as if just after he has overcome the lawsuits – and then the injuries of the last few years – and got his career back on track, the next blow comes.”

“It seems like every time he goes on the field he plays with a heavy head and can't concentrate on the game,” Warren added. “He probably tries a little too hard. He puts pressure on. And he's just not able to play the way he could.”

After a 1-2 start this season, the Browns embark on a three-game road trip with stops in Las Vegas, Washington and Philadelphia.
