Police investigate stabbings in central and south Omaha

OMAHA, Nebraska (WOWT) – Omaha police are investigating two stabbings that occurred Saturday, they said in a statement.

At 12:11 p.m., officers responded to the first stabbing at the corner of 24th and N. Streets.

A victim was found at the scene with a cut wound to his abdomen. The victim stated that they had been involved in an altercation with a man who had struck them with a knife.

The victim was taken to Nebraska Medicine with non-life threatening injuries.

That same day, officers responded to a second stabbing around 6 p.m. near the corner of 22nd and Jones Streets.

A victim was found at the scene with a stab wound. The injury was not life-threatening and was transported to Nebraska Medicine.

Officers found the suspect, Derrick Tyler, 64, at the scene. He was arrested at Douglas County Corrections on charges of second-degree assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
