Joey Bosa describes Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh's unorthodox approach to cold falls

Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh has enjoyed success at the college and NFL levels. In addition to his ability to lead a team, Harbaugh has also earned a reputation for being one of the quirkier characters among coaches.

Khakis have seemingly become synonymous with Harbaugh, as he frequently wears them at games and practices.

Four-time Pro Bowler Joey Bosa recently highlighted another example that speaks to Harbaugh’s uniqueness.

During an appearance on the podcast “Green Light with Chris Long,” Bosa revealed that Harbaugh puts on his khakis when he takes a cold bath.

“It's consistent with everything he's done so far, so I believe it,” Bosa said when asked about Harbaugh's decision to live in an RV before the start of the season.

“I don't know why it makes sense, but now after he gets in the cold tub, he just puts on his whole outfit – shirt still tucked in and he just sits there with his belt and khakis. Excuse me, Coach. I ask: Coach, do these khakis provide a little insulation, do they keep you a little warm?”

In 2020, Harbaugh was a guest on the Jed Hughes Podcast and revealed how khaki pants effectively became a part of his brand.

WHY JIM HARBAUGH MAKES THE CHARGERS A RECOGNIZED SUPER BOWL CONTENDER

“[Former coach] Dave [Adolph] I wore khakis to practice every day and most of my coaches wore sweatpants and shorts,” Harbaugh said.

“And I say, 'Dave, why do you wear those pants every day?' 'Pockets. I put my script in the pockets. Room for my pens. Room for my pipe.' It just made so much sense, it just made perfect sense.”

In addition to his fashion choices and living situation this summer, Harbaugh is a proud fan of Judge Judy and Darth Vader. He is also an avowed milk fan.

“I believe that sleep is the No. 1 natural steroid, milk – whole milk – and water is No. 3,” he said on his radio show in 2015. “Fourth is steak.”

“We have a big milk dispenser,” Harbaugh, who was coaching at Michigan at the time, said of the equipment at the training center. “We have chocolate milk, we have whole milk and the guys even talked me into 2%. The 2% is better than nothing.”
