Ludhiana: 2 months later, man is arrested for sexually abusing an 8-year-old girl

Shimlapuri station house inspector Balwinder Singh said the CCTV cameras installed in the street had recorded the incident and the police had tracked down the accused by scanning the footage. The accused was produced before a court on Sunday and remanded in judicial custody.

The First Information Report (FIR) was registered following a statement by the minor's father, who also lives in Shimlapuri.

In the complaint, he said his daughter returned home on July 31, frightened and breathing heavily.

When questioned, she told him that a man on a scooter intercepted her and touched her “inappropriately.” She said the defendant also tried to sexually assault her, but she was able to escape. The plaintiff said they tried to look for the defendant, but to no avail.

The FIR was registered under Section 79 (word, gesture or act with intent to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The SHO added that two cases under the Gaming Act were already pending against the accused, registered at Model Town and Daba police stations.
