Injury update on Athletic Club star Nico Williams

An update on the health of Athletic Club star Nico Williams has appeared on the Internet.

For those who missed it, this comes after the 2024 Euro winners set alarm bells ringing among Athletic fans on Thursday night.

Although Nico was in the starting line-up for the Basques' La Liga match against Leganés, he had to leave the field early.

After being brought down by Valentin Rosier, the 22-year-old remained lying on the ground and was visibly in pain.

After he was taken off the pitch shortly afterwards, it was no great surprise when coach Ernesto Valverde suggested the name of his star winger after the game.

And the Athletic's principal further announced that Williams had suffered “a sprained ankle.”

The club itself later released a statement confirming:

“Athletic Club winger Nico Williams has suffered a bruised left ankle, an injury which resulted in him being substituted at half-time during Thursday night's LaLiga match against CD Leganés.”

Although the extent of Nico's ankle problems is not yet clear, the most worrying development occurred after the game at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque, when the Spanish international was seen using crutches…
