The Nature Friends Forest is growing in the Aatal

As part of the “Nature Friends on the Move” project, around 1,500 people will cover a total of 150,000 kilometers in 2021. For this purpose, around 20,000 trees were planted in the area in the Aatal valley below the Hassel.

In order for more people to be able to enjoy the Nature Friends Forest, take a break and spend time there, the foundation has sponsored two additional wooden huts. The huts are located at the panorama board at the lookout point on the Hassel and near the start of the bike park and are already being used well by the citizens, the town of Bad Wünnenberg announced in a press release.

“The Nature Friends Forest is an excellent representative of how health and environmental protection can be combined.” “A big thank you to the foundation and the Techniker Krankenkasse, who have supported our health location,” Mayor Christian Carl is quoted as saying.

Foundation donates money for new trees

“We are proud that our project has had such a lasting impact,” explain Richard Hesse and Hans-Norbert Blome. “Thanks to numerous community activities, our Nature Friends forest is now growing here and is contributing to recreation, relaxation and better air quality for future generations.”

But that's not all: This year, the Nature Friends Richard Hesse Foundation created a special incentive for city cycling and sponsored trees to revitalize and reforest local forests, depending on the number of kilometers cycled. A total of 2,251 euros will be given for trees according to the forestry budget of the city of Bad Wünnenberg. The trees are to be planted near the Aatal Stadium in Bad Wünnenberg.
