An acrobat fell about six meters during a circus performance in Burghausen (Altötting district) and suffered life-threatening injuries. According to the police, the 29-year-old was attempting to perform a free-floating trick with her 48-year-old partner. She slipped in front of the audience and fell about six meters.

The 29-year-old was treated by emergency doctors and then flown to a hospital by rescue helicopter. The exact cause of the accident was still unclear. An investigation is underway. Witnesses who filmed the incident are asked to contact the police.

The accident occurred on Saturday evening during a performance by Circus Krone. The circus will be in Burghausen from September 19 to 22 and then traveled on to Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate. “The entire Circus Krone team hopes and prays for Amalia Avanesian's quick and full recovery,” said a spokeswoman.

According to the circus, the acrobatic duo performs the trick using straps that are usually attached to the ceiling.
