Trump says that if he wins the election, women will “no longer” think about abortion. “They will live happy lives.”

Donald Trump returned to the swing state of North Carolina on Saturday, where he addressed women directly. The former president expressed confidence in his ability to fight for women's rights, who would “no longer” have to think about abortion if he were re-elected.

Trump makes bizarre claim that abortion bans would make women “happy”

During his speech to the crowd, the Republican candidate made the unsubstantiated claim that Democrats wanted “the execution of a baby after birth,” Rolling Stone reported. In addition to this baseless accusation against his rival party, Trump also claimed that abortion bans would make women “happy.”

“Women will be happy, healthy, confident and free. They will no longer have to think about abortion because it is now where it always needed to be, in the states,” the former president claimed.

Despite his claims, 63 percent of American adults have called for legal abortion in most cases, according to a Pew Research Center poll. Many Republican-led states have taken steps to restrict or prevent abortion access following the overturning of the Roe vs. Wade ruling in 2022. Last year, North Carolina banned most abortions after 12 weeks.

“I will protect women at a level never seen before. They will finally be healthy, hopeful, safe and secure. Their lives will be happy, beautiful and great again,” the Republican presidential candidate continued. “So women, we love you. We will take care of you,” he added.

Both Trump and Kamala Harris have repeatedly raised the issue of abortion during their campaigns, but an overwhelming majority of voters have expressed confidence in the Democratic candidate, who is better suited to handle this sensitive issue. According to a poll by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, 55 percent of voters preferred Harris, while only 27 percent expressed confidence in Trump.
