In response to Israeli attacks on Lebanon in recent days, Hezbollah fired rockets at northern Israel on Saturday evening.

The IDF posted a photo on X around 6 p.m. EST showing a map of areas in northern Israel where sirens were going off, signaling an impending attack from Lebanon.

In a statement on its Telegram channel, the Israeli army said that ten missiles had entered Israel from Lebanon and all but one had been fired. There were several reports of impacts in moshavs, villages, and one was reported in the city of Nazareth, where a fire also broke out.

Hezbollah said it targeted the Ramat David air base in Haifa and used “dozens” of Fadi 1 and Fadi 2 medium-range missiles.

Hezbollah's reaction came after Israel was believed to be responsible for an elaborate sabotage of Hezbollah's communications equipment earlier this week. On Tuesday and Wednesday, Hezbollah members' beepers and walkie-talkies, which the perpetrators had placed explosives in, detonated in controlled explosions. Over the course of the two-day attacks, more than 20 people were killed and thousands injured.

Israel also carried out more than 50 air strikes on southern Lebanon on Saturday evening. The Israeli military said it hit nearly 400 Hezbollah rocket launchers in these attacks.

Following the Hezbollah attacks, the Israeli army announced new restrictions on gatherings, workplaces and educational activities in northern Israel late Saturday night. These include indoor gatherings of a maximum of 10 people and outdoor gatherings of a maximum of 100 people, the closure of beaches, workplace activities only being allowed if shelter can be found in the event of an attack, and the ban on all educational activities. The restrictions affect the Golan region, the Galilee region and other smaller areas in the north of the country.
