3 Israelis injured in Hezbollah attack on military-industrial complex in northern Israel

ANKARA

Lebanon's Hezbollah said on Sunday it had bombed Israeli military-industrial complexes north of Haifa. Israel said three people were injured in the attack.

In a statement, the group said it had attacked strategic military sites, particularly the Rafael Electronics Company building complex north of Haifa, with dozens of rockets in its first response to the “massacre of pagers and wireless devices.”

The Israeli army confirmed the attack and reported that over 115 rockets were fired from southern Lebanon towards northern Israel.

The Israeli rescue service Magen David Adom said that at least three people were injured in the attack on Haifa.

A statement said: “Medics are treating three victims with shrapnel injuries and evacuating them to Rambam Hospital in Haifa: a 70-year-old man in moderate condition, a 70-year-old man and a 16-year-old woman in light condition.”

Separately, the Israeli army said in a statement that it was “currently attacking Hezbollah targets in Lebanon” in response to Hezbollah's attack on Haifa.

It continued: “In recent hours, the air force has intercepted Hezbollah threats and attacks on civilian areas in the north of the country.”

Tensions have risen as Israel anticipates an imminent response from Hezbollah to Friday's deadly attack that killed at least 38 people, including children and women, and wounded dozens in a southern suburb of Beirut.

Hezbollah confirmed that at least 16 of its members were killed in the Israeli attack, including its leader Ibrahim Aqil and its commander-in-chief Ahmed Wahbi.

The attack came two days after two waves of wireless communications equipment explosions across Lebanon killed at least 37 people and injured more than 3,000 others.

While the Lebanese government and Hezbollah blame Israel for the explosions, Tel Aviv has neither denied nor confirmed its involvement.

Hezbollah and Israel have been engaged in a cross-border war since the start of Israel's war on Gaza. The war left nearly 41,400 people, mostly women and children, dead following a cross-border attack by Hamas on October 7 last year.
