Those who know me know that I like to bet on plus-money underdogs that appear to be in deadlocked games, and I believe this is one of those situations. My prediction for Seattle Mariners vs. Texas Rangers is Seattle ML, especially in a situation where the Mariners have to win every remaining game. There's not much at stake for the defending champion Rangers, and they're just finishing the season. The Mariners are still clinging to hope in the wildcard race, coming off an 8-2 win over the Rangers on Friday. With Max Scherzer on the mound for Texas on Saturday, the bookies are leaning toward a game in favor of the home team – but I believe that's a mistake. Therefore, my tip for Mariners vs. Rangers is: The Mariners on the money line.

I don't think Scherzer will throw much. He returned from the injured list last week against the same Mariners team and lasted 4.0 innings and 73 pitches. I doubt they'll let him play much longer, and the Rangers bullpen isn't a reliable unit. On the other hand, I like Emerson Hancock. The young starter returned to the bigs last week and allowed 3 runs in 5.0 innings to these Rangers. I tend to trust Seattle's young pitchers, though, and I definitely prefer their bullpen. Add to that the fact that only Seattle has much motivation in this game, and I think the M's will win. If you give me more money for it, I'm in.
