PJ cops catch three men aged 50 to 61 suspected of repeatedly stabbing an interior designer in a Sri Damansara apartment

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22 – Police believe they have made significant progress in the murder case of an interior designer who was brutally stabbed 20 times in a residential unit in Persiaran Meranti, Bandar Sri Damansara, after arresting three men in the early hours of this morning.

Petaling Jaya district police deputy chief Supt. M. Hussin Sollehuddin Zolkifly said that based on intelligence, police raided a residence at 3am and arrested three suspects aged between 50 and 61.

“The three suspects are roommates and initial police investigations revealed that one of them was probably involved in the murder of the 36-year-old victim.

“The suspects, who did not know the victim, reportedly broke into the interior designer's home to commit a robbery, but encountered him at that moment when he returned.

“This unexpected confrontation led to a struggle in which the victim was fatally stabbed,” he said in a statement.

All three suspects, who have a total of nine previous convictions and 14 drug-related offences, were remanded in custody by the Petaling Jaya District Court for six days, until Thursday, under Section 302 of the Penal Code, to assist in the investigation.

The interior designer's body was discovered in his Bandar Sri Damansara apartment on Monday. His body bore 20 stab wounds, including to his hands and head. — Bernama
