FSU Football vs. Cal Golden Bears: Pre-game injury updates

Kickoff for Florida State's third straight home game is approaching as the Seminoles make their final preparations to face the undefeated Cal Golden Bears. FSU hopes to emerge victorious for the first time this season, while the Golden Bears are hoping for another upset on the road after defeating Auburn earlier this month.

Doak Campbell Stadium is once again sold out for Family Weekend, with fans clad in garnet and gold eager to see the Seminoles win their first game since defeating Louisville in the ACC Championship a whopping 294 days ago.

Heading into the game, the Seminoles are dealing with a number of injuries that could force at least four players out of the lineup. Redshirt senior offensive tackle Jeremiah Byers, redshirt senior offensive tackle Robert Scott and senior running back Roydell Williams have already been ruled out, while senior linebacker Cam Riley will be decided at game time.

Fortunately, redshirt senior offensive tackle Darius Washington, redshirt junior safety Shyheim Brown and redshirt freshman wide receiver Jalen Brown are expected to return to the lineup. Brown sat out against Memphis with an undisclosed issue, Washington was injured during pregame warmups and Brown was injured in the first half.

It's worth noting that there are a few players on Florida State's roster dealing with known ailments. Sophomore wide receiver Destyn Hill has already been ruled out for the year after suffering an injury in the spring, while true freshman defensive back Jamari Howard is recovering from an injury that lingered into the season. The Seminoles recently ruled out junior running back and standout specialist Jaylin Lucas for the remainder of the season.

Additionally, offensive tackle Robert Scott, defensive tackle Joshua Farmer and tight end Jerrale Powers missed most of the spring due to various issues. Additionally, Norvell has brought in linebacker DJ Lundy, tight end Landen Thomas and offensive lineman Bryson Estes as players who were limited at various points in the preseason.

NoleGameday will keep an eye on Florida State before the game to see who is available. Follow updates below before the Seminoles face the Golden Bears.

— Cal star running back Jaydn Otto is dressed and warming up. Ott will play tonight after missing last week's game with an injury.

— DJ Uiagalelei is wearing a sock on his right leg for the third time in a row. It's hard to say whether he's wearing the same knee-length pants underneath the sock that he wears during training.

— Shyheim Brown jogs around the field before the game. He doesn't appear to be hampered and should be good to go.

– Jalen Brown catches punts before the game and looks like he is playing as expected.

— Darius Washington warms up with the centers before the game. He is expected to be back after missing the last game due to injury.

— Robert Scott and Jeremiah Byers are both in civilian clothes and OFF tonight. Neither looks visibly impaired and is supporting his teammates in pregame warmups.

— Roydell Williams has a boot on his right foot and is limping slightly. He was ruled out of play early this morning.

— First-year wide receiver Camdon Frier has a bulky brace on his left leg and requires two crutches to get around. Norvell has not commented on his injury.
