4 people charged in shooting of woman found dead in Detroit alley – Crime Online

Four people in Michigan have been charged in connection with the death of a woman who was found dead in a Detroit alley.

A burned and abandoned vehicle was found several blocks away in connection with a call about a carjacking with shots fired that occurred in Dearborn earlier this month, Dearborn police said.

Dearborn Police responded to this 911 call early in the morning of September 8 and learned that Mohammed Haitham Ahmad and Ali Haitham Ahmad had fired shots at a vehicle they believed had been stolen from their property.

Investigators found that Shaid Al-Aziz Muhammad was driving the vehicle and was shot and injured. A passenger, Paige Marie Knox, was shot and killed, while a second passenger, Ebony Aaron Pugh, was not hit by the gunfire.

Prosecutors said Muhammad drove to Detroit, where they dumped Knox's body in an alley. He then apparently drove a few blocks away, abandoned the vehicle and set it on fire.

All four were arrested Thursday. The Ahmads were charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter and possession of a weapon. Muhammad and Pugh were charged with driving without permission, concealing a death and arson. They were not charged with auto theft.

“This is a terrible tragedy for everyone involved. While owning a gun is a protected right, it comes with great responsibility,” said Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin. “I extend my sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.”

The four men were arraigned on Saturday. Muhammad and Pugh were each given bail of $250,000, while the Ahmads were remanded without bail. All four are due back in court on October 2.
