Tragic collision: Two men killed in motorcycle accident in Jajmau |

Kanpur: In a tragic accident, two persons died after a DCM truck collided with a motorcycle in the early hours of Saturday Jajmau Police Train station area.
The deceased were identified as Santosh Dixit 55 and his friend Ashok Soni 45. Santosh, who worked as a clerk in Nayaganj, lived in EWS Gangapur Colony in Sen West Para police station area while Ashok, a jewellery shop owner, lived nearby.
The two were on their way home after performing their daily ritual offerings at Chandan Ghat when the unfortunate incident occurred.
The force of the impact was so severe that Santosh died instantly on the spot, while Ashok succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Hallett Hospital.
Santosh's wife Meera and his sons Pradeep and Dilip cried on seeing the body. Ashok's wife Pooja and his sons Yash and Harshit were also devastated by his death. On receiving the information, the police reached the accident spot and conducted an investigation. The bodies of the deceased were sent for postmortem. However, the driver of the DCM truck fled the scene after the accident, following which the police launched a manhunt to arrest him.
The Jajmau police station chief said efforts were underway to locate and arrest the absconding driver.
