Foster said his team's execution problems stemmed from players getting overly excited and trying to do too much, especially early in the game. UCLA was outscored 34-7 overall in the first half. Coaches have tried to relax players.

“Let the game come to you,” Foster said of his advice. “Don't play out of character, you know what I mean? Basically, we're trying to get the guys to calm down, because once we calm down, we can execute.”

Havili Kaufusi said part of the problem is making every moment bigger than it needs to be.

“These guys know how important and how big every game is and they don't want to mess it up for their teammates, they don't want to mess it up for the coaching staff because we know how much work we put in,” Havili Kaufusi said. “So we have to do a better job of encouraging each other as players, every game. We really dreamed about this as kids and just capitalized on that, so going out there, having fun and just executing it, man, just playing for each other, I think that's the most important thing.”
