Leicester 1 – 1 Everton

Leicester 1 – 1 Everton

Everton again gave up a lead in the first half but picked up their first point of the season with a 1-1 draw at winless Leicester, which was postponed at half-time due to thunder and lightning.

Sean Dyche's weakened side had squandered a two-goal lead in their last two Premier League defeats and were in the lead during the week before being knocked out of the Carabao Cup – and were unable to hold on to it again at the King Power Stadium.

Everton deserved more than a point but were punished for failing to capitalise on their chances. The first came in the fourth minute when Jesper Lindstrom volleyed wide, but moments later Iliman Ndiaye fired home from the right post after a clever pass from Ashley Young.

Midway through the first half, the heavens opened, making things even more awkward for Jordan Pickford when Stephy Mavididi was almost caught off guard with a shot and a cross, which the Everton goalkeeper had to deflect onto the bar.

The second half was delayed for seven minutes and when play resumed, Ndiaye fired over from inside the box before Leicester's Jordan Ayew put a shot over.

Leicester's Premier League match against Everton was delayed in the second half due to torrential rain at the King Power Stadium.

Everton's big chance to extend their lead came when Dwight McNeil played Dominic Calvert-Lewin through on goal, but the striker was stopped by a fine low save from Mads Hermansen on the right.

Leicester were starting to get going as the visitors' legs began to tire and Mavididi turned inside the six-yard box to equalise from a Harry Winks corner, but both teams remain winless after five games.

More to follow.
