Death toll from floods in Myanmar rises to 384

Last weekend, the junta made a rare appeal to foreign countries to help deal with the disaster.

The United Nations has warned that up to 887,000 people in Myanmar may be affected by Typhoon Yagi.

“The worst affected areas are still devastated. Houses, household items, water sources and electricity infrastructure have been destroyed on a large scale,” the United Nations humanitarian agency (OCHA) said on Saturday.

“Roads, bridges, communication networks, schools, public facilities, religious sites, as well as fields and farmland were severely damaged or completely destroyed,” it said.
