The social studies teacher or the agitator? We will decide

The Gettysburg area is located in Pennsylvania's 33rd Senate District. We are currently represented by Doug Mastriano, who has been in office since June 2019. He is best known for his attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election and his related leadership role in the January 6 election.th uprising.

His opponent is Cameron Schroy of Greencastlea lifelong resident of Franklin County and a social studies teacher in Waynesboro.

This raises an ironic question: Do you want to be represented by a social studies teacher or by someone who your Voices on the enthronement be preferred candidate?

Let us examine Mastriano’s anti-democratic behavior more closely.

Between the election and the confirmation on January 6, Mastriano said:

– Wrote to the Department of Justice and spread refuted allegations of fraud.

– Organized an unofficial “hearing” in Gettysburg where Trump and Rudy Giuliani made false claims about election fraud.

– Spent more than $3,000 from his campaign account to charter buses to Washington ahead of the Jan. 6 “Stop the Steal” rally that preceded the attack on the Capitol.

These violations were reported in real time and documented in the Senate Judiciary Committee’s report on the 2020 election, which states:

“Doug Mastriano, a Republican senator … attended Rudy Giuliani's so-called 'hearings' on election fraud, spent thousands of dollars from his campaign account to bus people to the 'Save America Rally' on January 6, and was present on the Capitol grounds as the insurrection unfolded … like Perry [our district’s US Rep at the time]Mastriano communicated directly with [the Department of Justice]…about his false claims about election fraud…He and his wife participated in the January 6 insurrection. Video footage confirms that they broke through the barricades and police cordons at the US Capitol.”

Mastriano defended his involvement on January 6, saying, “When it became clear that this was no longer a peaceful protest, my wife and I left the area and began our journey. At no point did we enter the Capitol, walk down the Capitol steps, or cross the police line.”

But many who have searched video footage of the riots question his claims (WHY:

On the other hand, Social studies teacher Schroy lists “protecting democracy” as one of his three most important legislative priorities. For him this means: “…fight all efforts to abolish mail-in voting, restrict access to mailboxes, or in any way impede your constitutional right to vote” and “keep big money out of politics once and for all.”

For me the answer is clear. I choose social studies teacher Cameron Schroy. He will respect the will of the voters and – unlike Mastriano – will not substitute his will for ours.
