While the Spanish head coach explained that every member of his squad is analysed and worked with before matchday, he mentioned that the German striker Niclas Füllkrug is another player struggling to return to full fitness.

The 31-year-old sustained an injury to his Achilles tendon and calf muscles during an international match earlier this month and was therefore absent from the last game against Fulham.

Lopetegui added: “We are trying to get all the players back and we will have to wait until the day before the game to know more about all of them.

“That also applies to Niclas. He has different problems than Emerson and we really have to wait until Friday to know what will happen.”
