A YouTuber says he can build a better gaming PC than the AI

Who builds the better gaming PC for around 1,300 euros? YouTuber JayzTwoCents is betting his career on defeating the AI. Who will win?

Who exactly is competing against what here? One of the biggest tech YouTubers, JayzTwoCents, is competing against the Microsoft AI Copilot. Also taking part is the equally well-known YouTuber Austin Evans. Together they have almost 10 million subscribers. In one of his latest videos, Jayz bets his career on being able to build a better gaming PC than the AI.

How does the competition work? JayzTwoCents and Austin Evans meet in a microcenter and each have the equivalent of around 1,300 euros to put together a gaming PC. The copilot AI has already made a selection and employees of the store have assembled the computer. The YouTubers don't yet know what's inside.

Which PCs came out and won? You can see the three PC configurations in the following graphic:

Two Intel systems compete against an AMD computer. At first glance they are similar, but in the details the differences are big, as you will see: In the last test with the current 3DMark the result is clear. The number in the above graphic below the respective price is the points achieved per dollar:

  • JayzTwoCents: 8.60
  • Austin Evans: 6.76
  • CI: 4.42

So JayzTwoCents' PC wins and his career continues – if we seriously believe that he was serious about the bet. Although the AI managed with the smallest sum, it clearly failed due to the low results in the benchmark.

Why does the AI PC perform so poorly? The AI system falls short most clearly in the graphics score. Here it only achieves half of JayzTwoCents' score. The graphics card, a 4060TI, slows down the otherwise relatively more powerful components. JayzTwoCents also shows this with a graph at this point in the YouTube video.

In addition, the AI has opted for significantly slower DDR4 RAM. The YouTubers use the current 5-series standard.

How did the AI select the hardware? The two YouTubers cannot give a clear answer to this, but they agree on one assumption: They sorted each category, i.e. RAM, CPU, GPU and so on, according to the buyer's rating. This meant that undeniably good, but also relatively expensive components were included in the system.

The graphics card was probably put into the shopping cart quite late. The budget only lasted for a GPU that costs around 400 euros in German prices (via Amazon). Austin Evans and JayzTwoCents spent more on their 7900XT models: around 700 euros (via Amazon).
