Oakland County man kills neighbor and sexually abuses victim's wife and daughter

PONTIAC, Mich. – A 50-year-old Pontiac man is charged with 11 felonies in connection with the death of his father and the sexual abuse of his wife and daughter.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, September 18, at a home on Ypsilanti Avenue in Pontiac.

According to authorities, Timothy Ernest Legard went to his neighbor's house, stabbed the father in the driveway, entered the man's house as his wife and daughter were getting ready for school, and sexually assaulted them both.

The two managed to escape the house and called 911 from a neighbor's house. Police found the father's body in the driveway and Oakland County Sheriff's officers arrested the suspect.

Legard was charged on Friday, September 20, with first-degree murder, second-degree sexual abuse, two counts of kidnapping, three counts of first-degree sexual assault, two counts of assault with intent to commit sexual assault, and two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.

He remains in the Oakland County Jail. If convicted of murder, sexual assault or kidnapping, Legard faces life in prison.

He is due to appear in court this weekend.
