NYPD continues search for suspect who attacked 81-year-old woman in Manhattan

NEW YORK, NY — Police are searching for a man in connection with an attack on an 81-year-old woman that occurred Friday night on the Upper West Side. The incident occurred near West 66th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, within the 20th Precinct.

According to police reports, the attack occurred at around 7:09 p.m. while the woman was walking her dog. The suspect, a man, approached the victim from behind and punched her in the face. The force of the blow caused her to fall and lose consciousness.

The victim was taken to Mount Sinai West in critical but stable condition. Police said the suspect fled the scene on foot.

The suspect is described as male, between 30 and 35 years old, of medium build and light skin. He is approximately 1.80 m tall and has black hair and facial hair. At the time of the attack he was wearing a black T-shirt with white writing, black pants, white sneakers and a brown jacket.

No arrests have been made so far and the police are asking anyone with information to come forward.

  • Braddock man charged in connection with threats at Woodland Hills High School

    Pittsburgh, PA – Allegheny County Police have arrested and charged a Braddock man in connection with an investigation into threats made against Woodland Hills High School.

    Churchill police contacted the Allegheny County Police Department's Investigations Division on September 9 after the high school received multiple threats of a shooting spree. Additional threats, including a bomb threat, were received on September 12.

    During their investigation, detectives identified 27-year-old Dante Meadows as the man responsible for the threats. Meadows now faces several charges, including one count of making terroristic threats.

    He was arraigned Tuesday morning and is currently being held in the Allegheny County Jail.

  • Man arrested for wallet and purse theft in Utica

    Utica, NY – On Tuesday, Utica Police officers responded to a theft in the 1000 block of West Street. The call involved a stolen wallet and purse.

    Upon arrival, officers were notified by employees of a business in the area. The employees had seen a man stealing the items on the business's security camera. The suspect, James Greene, 59, of Utica, returned the stolen items when confronted.

    Mr. Greene was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Utica Police Department. He was charged with fourth degree grand larceny. The incident highlights the vigilance of local businesses and their cooperation with law enforcement in combating theft.
