Tragic death: Man takes his own life while battling addiction | News from Lucknow

Lucknow: A 28-year-old employee of a private company shot himself dead at his house in Gomtinagar Extension on Thursday evening. His family said Raghavendra was addicted to Intoxicants and used to face Withdrawal symptoms if he didn't get his dose.
Raghvendra's mother said he told her he wanted to buy gutkha but then shot himself in the head on the verandah. He was taken to RMLIMS where doctors declared him dead.
Raghvendra used to have a shop in the village. However, he closed the shop and moved to the city. And took a job in a private company.
“He always became restless when he did not get his dose of drugs. This could be the reason for this extreme step,” police said.
SHO, Gomtinagar Vistar, Sudhir Awasthi said: “Initial investigation revealed that the shooting was illegal pistol. Investigations are on to find out how the pistol reached his home and who gave it to him. Raghvendra's family originally hails from Lakhimpur Kheri. They lived in a rented house.”
The body has been sent for autopsy, he said, adding that the family has not yet filed a complaint with the police.
