Gurugram (Haryana) [India]September 20 (ANI): After a 22-year-old biker died in a collision with a car driving on the wrong side, police officials said legal action has been initiated after registering a case under the law, while expressing support to the family.

The incident occurred last Sunday, September 15, at around 6 a.m.

Speaking to ANI, ACP DLF Gurugram Vikas Kaushik said, “This incident took place last Sunday. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead there. We have initiated legal action in this regard and will take further action after registering the case as per the law.” According to the police, the deceased rode motorcycle as a hobby.

“The deceased was a 22-year-old young man working in a private company. He had come here in the morning with his friends and that was when this tragic incident happened to him. As far as we know, he was the only son of the family. I would like to inform that Gurugram Police is with the family. We will definitely take all action required under law. He was a biker and rode motorcycles as a hobby and because it was Sunday, these people came on Sunday and rode motorcycles around their village and surrounding areas,” said ACP Kaushik.

Police officers also said they had taken a blood sample from the accused and would take “necessary action” against him if traces of alcohol were found.

Addressing the accused, police said, “The 25-year-old accused said he drove on the wrong side to save time. We are investigating the cause but no points justify driving on the wrong side. Also, Gurugram police is taking strict action against those who break traffic rules. In the last one month, Gurugram police has issued 16,000 tickets for driving on the wrong side. We have conducted their medical examination and taken their blood sample. If any trace of alcohol is found, we will take necessary action; currently, a report in this regard is pending.” ACP of DLF Gurugram Vikas Kaushik also refuted the family's claim that they did not receive any support from the police and said that no special treatment or concessions were given to anyone and that if the family still has any suspicions, we would ask them to meet us and we would tell them everything.

“There is no question of giving any special treatment or concessions to anyone at any point as we investigate such cases as per SOPs and no special treatment or concessions will be given to anyone. If the family still has any suspicions, we request them to meet us. We will tell them everything, show them the files and discuss the course of action to ensure that an independent investigation is carried out,” said ACP Kaushik.

The biker's mother had previously demanded justice for her son and accused the police of not helping her.

The mother of the motorcyclist who died in an accident said, “I want justice for my son. The wrong person killed my son. My only question is why was he released on bail? My son is no longer alive but he (the accused) slept peacefully that night… Why is the police not helping us?…” (ANI)
