FSK-18 vigilante thriller new in streaming subscription: Jason Statham blows the fuses in this action thriller – Cinema News

“Meg” star Jason Statham once again shows his wonderfully nasty side: In the revenge thriller “The Beekeeper” by “End Of Watch” director David Ayer, the action star beats up greedy con artists and dishes out one-liners on a continuous basis.

A growling Jason Statham on a ruthless hunt for bloody revenge, a few painfully fast-paced fights, a handful of humorously exaggerated kills and a vegetable bag full of stupid, thickly applied one-liners: what more could a film fan's heart want when they're in the mood to numb their brains in a convivial atmosphere with chips and a cold drink?

“Suicide Squad” director David Ayer offers exactly this combination in his latest vigilante thriller “The Beekeeper”. In the cinema, the FSK-18 actioner was one of the first surprise hits of the year, now you can experience it at any time in your own four walls – preferably in cheerful company. Because You can now buy “The Beekeeper” uncut from the Sky streaming service WOW stream:

Alternatively, you can watch Statham’s dogged quest for sweet revenge on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K disc* and as VOD at Amazon Prime Video* Either way, we have just one urgent recommendation: Be sure to watch the German dubbed version of this vigilante brawl that ruthlessly rails against Internet rip-offs. You'll thank us for it!

“The Beekeeper”: Ballermann phrases, bee knowledge and peeled cucumbers

At first glance, Adam Clay (Jason Statham) seems like a loner, well-trained, but otherwise completely normal beekeeper and apiarist. But when his neighbor Eloise Parker (Phylicia Rashad) is robbed by internet scammers, Adam is shocked – and it becomes abundantly clear that he is not just anyone: He is an ex-member of the Beekeepers, a mysterious organization that stands above things and relentlessly fights unjust powers.

Thus begins a restless battle against the rich boy Derek (Josh Hutcherson), his minder Wallace (Jeremy Irons) and the dubious call center, while the FBI (at the forefront: Emmy Raver-Kampman and Bobby Naderi) and the CIA (Minnie Driver) chase after Adam…

Admittedly, for a generously told, rough and fast action thriller, “The Beekeeper” does not have the most stringent script. There are a small handful of scenes that seem as if “Equilibrium” maker Kurt Wimmer wanted to ride the “John Wick” wave of killer underground cultures with his script – passages that are soon forgotten. There are films that carry the “John Wick” vibe more consistently:

Competition for “John Wick”: First pictures of the sequel to one of the action blockbusters of the decade

At its core, however, “The Beekeeper” is the kind of vigilante violence that Statham fans are used to from the ex-high diver and expect it outside of his big-budget outings. He growls and grits, uses his agility and doggedness as a weapon against larger, more muscular opponents, and occasionally villains are attacked and disfigured so harshly that a high FSK rating was required.

The fact that you love to hate the greedy villains increases the fun factor. But the greatest element of fun comes in the form of the dialogues. Whether Clay snarls long, unsolicited lectures about bees into his three-day beard, guys in embarrassing jackets spout Ballermann singer-song phrases, or men threaten to give others a good slap in the face:

In “The Beekeeper,” the puns fly even lower than the punches, reminiscent of the days of violent movies when people still snotted around a lot. This is even more pointed and creative in the German dubbing than in the original, thanks to the extremely imaginative dialogue script by dubbing author and director Björn Schalla. Be prepared for loads of fits of laughter on the sofa at home, because beekeeper Statham and his enemies are after your diaphragm! And then you could follow Liam Neeson on his revenge campaign:
