Madras High Court orders compensation for victims

The court was hearing a public interest petition filed by lawyer AP Suryaprakasam, demanding a CIA investigation into the case, claiming that the main accused A. Sivaraman and his father had died under “mysterious circumstances”.

The case relates to an incident at a private school in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu, where 12 minor students were sexually abused by one A. Sivaraman, who had organised a fake NCC camp at the school between August 5 and 9 this year and sexually abused the victims.

Sivaraman was arrested on August 19 after a rape victim filed a complaint. He later died in a hospital in Salem on August 23. A day before his death, his father had also died in a road accident.

A judicial investigation is already underway to clarify the circumstances of Sivaraman's death.
