Girl raped and woman sexually abused on the beach

A teenager was raped and a woman was sexually assaulted on Brighton beach, police said.

Sussex Police received a report of the rape of a teenage girl and the sexual assault of a woman on a stretch of beach between Palace Pier and West Pier at around 06:00 BST on Sunday.

Officers are attempting to identify three men who may assist with their investigation. Anyone who recognises them is asked to come forward.

The two women, who know each other, are being looked after by specially trained officers.

Det. Sgt. Paul Heal said: “We are conducting a number of investigations to establish the circumstances of these incidents and ensure that those responsible are identified and held accountable for their actions.

“Patrols along Brighton seafront have been increased and we are working with our partner agencies to support this increased presence.

“If you recognise these men or have any information that assists our investigation, we ask you to contact the police.”
