LANSING – A man from Norway has been extradited from California to Dickinson County on suspicion of sexually abusing two children, the Michigan Attorney General’s Office said.

Trentin McWilliams, 23, who last lived in California, was arraigned Wednesday in 95B District Court on seven felony counts. He is accused of sexually abusing two minors on two separate occasions, Attorney General Dana Nessel said in a news release.

McWilliams was extradited to Dickinson County by the U.S. Marshals Service earlier this week to face these charges as part of the ongoing and recently announced Operation Survivor Justice.

McWilliams is accused of sexually abusing a child in a relative's residence in 2018. In July 2024, he was charged by the Department of Justice with second-degree sexual abuse and sexual abuse of a child for an immoral purpose. In February 2024, the defendant was also charged by the Dickinson County District Attorney's Office with three counts of third-degree sexual abuse and two counts of fourth-degree sexual abuse for allegedly sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl in a vehicle in October 2022.

Funding for McWilliams' extradition came this year from the recently announced $1 million state grant to Operation Survivor Justice, a partnership between the Michigan Department of Attorney General, local district attorneys and the U.S. Marshals Service to find, apprehend and return to Michigan fugitive offenders with outstanding sexual assault warrants.

“Operation Survivor Justice is already having a profound impact in Michigan and across the country,” said Nettle. “Through our partnership with the U.S. Marshals Service, we have been able to remove a number of individuals accused of sexual assault from their communities and ensure that they face the charges in court.”

McWilliams will next appear before Judge Julie LaCost in District 95B Court on October 2 at 11:30 a.m.
