Two dead after bus crash involving Mississippi Gulf Coast CC band in Pike County

PIKE CO., Mississippi (WLOX) – Two people were killed in an accident involving a bus carrying the Mississippi Gulf Coast Band of Gold on Highway 98 in Pike County.

According to Mississippi Highway Patrol officials, the accident occurred a few miles west of the Pike County-Walthall County line.

The bus was headed to Summit, Mississippi, for the Thursday night football game between MGCCC and Southwest Mississippi Community College. The band was not seen during the opening sequences of SMCC's live broadcast of the game.

Officials added that two people in another vehicle were killed in the accident. Their identities are not being released pending notification of next of kin. The cause of the accident is currently unknown.
